About megan weaver

Before the Farm

Megan Weaver's journey is a testament to passion, resilience, and the transformative power of hands-on experience. Her love for horses ignited her path, leading her to become a dedicated horse trainer and a compassionate volunteer at a local horse rescue. Every Sunday, she dedicated her time to assessing and rehabilitating troubled horses, honing her skills and deepening her understanding of animal behavior.

After several fulfilling years as a horse trainer, Megan took on the role of a farm sitter for about three years. During this time, she embraced the challenges of rural life, often camping in a cargo trailer as she moved between farms. Instead of pursuing a traditional college education, she sought real-world experience, determined to learn the intricacies of farming firsthand.

The Beginning

Megan’s first foray into farming began in Deadwood, Oregon, where she faced numerous challenges. With no cell service or electricity, she relied on the river for water to sustain her sheep, horses, and pigs. This experience taught her the importance of resourcefulness and hard work, laying the foundation for her future endeavors.

After a few years in Deadwood, Megan moved to a new farm in Lebanon. While she cherished her time there, she soon realized that 12 acres was not enough to fulfill her dreams. In pursuit of greater opportunities, she acquired a sprawling 177-acre farm, where she could truly cultivate her vision.

Looking Forward

Over the past nine years, Megan has poured her heart and soul into making her dreams come to life by having a thriving versatile farm. Today, her farm is home to 100 Meishan pigs and over 150 sheep, a testament to her dedication and hard work. Each day brings new challenges and triumphs, and while much has been

achieved, Megan knows there is still more to be done.

Megan Weaver’s journey from horse trainer to successful farmer is an inspiring story of determination and passion. Her commitment to her animals and her craft continues to drive her forward, as she works tirelessly to create a perfect paradise for both her

livestock and herself. With each passing year, her dream becomes more of a reality, and the legacy she is building is sure to inspire future generations of farmers and animal lovers alike.

our journey

Deadwood

Purchasing the Deadwood Property

In we bought our first property with 7 useable acres in Deadwood Oregon. With no running water or electricity caring for the animals was a full-time operation and kept Megan on her toes bucketing water from the creek every day.

Pigs

Wanting to get into pigs Megan began researching different breeds focused on finding something unique as well as safe to handle.

Meishans

After purchasing a gilt and a barrow to give the breed a try. Megan butchered the barrow to end up with the best pork she had ever had. Paired with some of the kindest, easy to handle and low maintenance behavior Megan fell in love with the breed.

Lebanon

Moving to Lebanon

Quickly outgrowing the Deadwood property, we purchased a 12-acre property in Lebanon with plans to expand our Meishan stock.

Getting Started

With only two registered breeders in Washington making up any and all breeders on the west coast Megan bought registered pigs from Georgia, Kansas and Washington making us the 3rd registered breeder on the west coast.

Genetic Diversity

Importing stock from all across the county quickly allowed us to quickly have some of the biggest genetic diversity in the registry. Meishans have only been available to the public since 2016, and started with only 12 original breeding pairs. With only 300 pigs registered at the time we got into the registry we hoped to expand the Meishans into the general public.

Brownsville

Expanding

After only 2 short years, we quickly outgrew the 12 acre farm in Lebanon and set our sites on a 178 acre spread in Brownsville.

Increasing our Pig & Sheep numbers we quickly began to grow to fill our large fields.

Opportunities

Expanding our pork into multiple stores as well as increasing our presence online quickly built a name for our farm.

Lambing, farrowing and hay season keep us on our toes as we work on our projects in between.

Looking Forward

We have now added a new haybarn, lambing and farrowing barns, green houses, fencing and so much more, preparing us for the bright future we see ahead.
