🌿💔 Remembering Gods Blessing Laura “Big Bertha” 💔🌿
Bertha was truly one of a kind. From her ginormous size—undoubtedly one of the biggest Meishans out there—to her phenomenally gentle demeanor, she left an unforgettable mark on everyone who met her. As an ambassador for both Weaver Meadow Farm and the Meishan breed, she was always the first to greet visitors and the first to steal their hearts.
Born at Gods Blessing Farm in Tennessee, Bertha traveled to Odd Bird Farms in Missouri as a young piglet before coming home to us here in Oregon as a young adult. She came to us bred and gifted us with her largest litter of 17 piglets, including many who became cornerstones of our breeding program: Stormy, Zepher, Maisie, Meesha, and Malani.
This past spring, she brought us her final litter of 9, with standout piglets like King Kong, Knight in Shining Armor, Kings Lady, Kalamity Jane, and Kiara. But Bertha’s influence goes far beyond her own litters. Her legacy lives on in her many grandchildren—Divine, Jay Kay, Jeanie in a Bottle, Jennae, Juniper, Iona, Ivy, Izzy, Azholian, Ari, Ahani, and more—as well as great-grandpiglets in Ari & Ahani’s litters.
Bertha’s contribution to our breeding program will never be forgotten. Her kind and gentle spirit is woven into the lives of her descendants, who carry her giant ears, squishy faces, and calm temperament.
While Bertha was an exceptional matriarch and a cornerstone of our farm, she was also simply a gentle giant who loved her evening goodies and leaning in for scratches. She will be missed beyond words.
Rest peacefully, Big Bertha. Thank you for everything you brought to our farm and our hearts. 🐷❤️
